More Than a Chatbot

Every AI interaction covered so far in this app follows the same basic shape: you provide input, the model produces output, and that's it. An "agent" is something genuinely different — a system that can perceive a situation, decide what to do about it, and actually take action, often repeatedly, without a person handling every single step.
That's the real difference: a plain chat response ends the moment it's produced — nothing happens as a result unless a person reads it and acts on it themselves. An agent can be the one that acts: checking a result, deciding a next step based on what it finds, and continuing until the actual goal is reached, not just until one reply is generated.
This isn't a different kind of model under the hood — it's the same kind of language model this app has already covered, used in a different pattern: given a goal, a way to take actions, and a way to observe the results of those actions, then run in a loop instead of stopping after one response.
What fundamentally distinguishes an AI agent from a plain single-response chat interaction?
A plain chat response ends the moment it's produced; an agent can keep going in a ____ until its actual goal is reached.
An AI agent requires a fundamentally different, non-language-model technology than the chat interactions covered elsewhere in this app.
