Getting the Basics Right · Lesson 3 of 9

The Shape of This Track

A free lesson from Swipe Personal Growth · Relationships & Communication, level 1 · updated October 2026

By the Swipe team, founded by Colin · how we make lessons

Here's the roadmap. Levels 2 and 3 build the core listening skill this whole track leans on: actually hearing someone instead of just waiting for your turn to talk, and asking real follow-up questions that come from genuine curiosity rather than steering the conversation back to yourself.

Levels 4 through 7 get into trickier territory: being direct without being harsh, starting conversations with people you don't know yet, keeping in touch with people you already care about without leaving it to chance, and setting a boundary in a relationship without damaging it.

L2-L3: Listening -> actually hearing people, real follow-up questions
L4-L7: The trickier parts -> direct without harsh, starting conversations, staying in touch, setting boundaries
L8-L9: Handling friction -> conflict without making it worse, asking for and actually hearing feedback
L10: Capstone -> tied together, bridges to Purpose & Direction
The full arc of this track, level by level.

The back half covers handling friction well: disagreeing with someone without making it worse, and asking for honest feedback — then actually listening to it instead of getting defensive. Level 10 ties the whole arc together and bridges into the final track in this app, Purpose & Direction.
