Why Catching It Early Matters

Stress noticed at a 2 out of 10 is a completely different problem than stress noticed at an 8 out of 10. At a 2, a few slow breaths and a shoulder roll might be all it takes. At an 8, the same small tools barely make a dent — the moment for an easy fix has already passed.
Most people only notice stress once it's loud: a pounding heart, a racing mind, a short temper with someone who didn't deserve it. By then, the body has been quietly escalating for a while, and calming down takes real effort instead of a small, cheap adjustment.
Catching stress early isn't about avoiding it altogether — that's not realistic and isn't really the goal. It's about intervening while the problem is still small and cheap to deal with, instead of waiting until it's expensive.
Why does this lesson describe stress noticed at a 2 out of 10 as a different problem than stress noticed at an 8 out of 10?
Catching stress early means intervening while the problem is still small and ____ to deal with.
According to this lesson, the goal of noticing stress early is to avoid ever feeling stressed at all.
