Getting the Basics Right · Lesson 3 of 9

The Shape of This Track

A free lesson from Swipe Personal Growth · Habits & Routines, level 1 · updated October 2026

By the Swipe team, founded by Colin · how we make lessons

Here's the roadmap. Level 2 covers habit stacking — attaching a new habit to one you already do without thinking, so the existing habit becomes the cue. Level 3 covers starting absurdly small, since a habit that's easy to start is a habit that actually happens.

Levels 4 and 5 go deeper on environment design from both directions: Level 4 covers making good habits easier to start, and Level 5 covers breaking a bad one by changing the routine, not just white-knuckling through the craving.

L2-L3: Getting started -> habit stacking, starting absurdly small
L4-L5: Environment -> designing for good habits, breaking bad ones
L6-L7: Sticking with it -> tracking that motivates, a morning routine that survives a bad night
L8-L9: The long game -> identity-based habits, relapse and restarting
L10: Capstone -> tied together, bridges to Focus & Productivity
The full arc of this track, level by level.

The back half covers what actually keeps a habit alive long-term: tracking that motivates instead of guilt-trips, a morning routine built to survive a genuinely bad night's sleep, thinking about habits as votes for who you're becoming rather than one-off tasks, and — honestly — what to do when a habit breaks down, because it eventually will. Level 10 ties the whole track together.
